About Insect Out

Insect Out is one of Singapore’s longest-running specialists in magnetic insect mesh screens for windows, doors and gates. For more than ten years, our focus has stayed exactly the same: helping families across the island enjoy natural ventilation while keeping mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches — and curious cats and lizards — where they belong. If you have ever wanted to throw your windows open on a breezy evening without inviting half the neighbourhood’s insects inside, that is the problem Insect Out Singapore was built to solve.

We are a homegrown brand that understands local homes, because we live in them too. The HDB flat with the casement windows that never quite seal. The condo with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors facing a landscaped garden full of mozzies. The landed home with a back gate that the family wants to leave open for the breeze. Each of these has its own quirks, and over the years we have helped screen all of them.

What we believe

You shouldn’t have to choose between fresh air and a bug-free home, and you shouldn’t have to drill holes or renovate to get it. That belief shapes every product we make. Our screens use a fine fibreglass mesh on a magnetic frame that snaps onto a slim, self-adhesive PVC border — removable, washable and damage-free. It works with your existing windows rather than against them, which matters enormously in a country where most people rent for a while, move between flats, or simply don’t want to void a renovation warranty by drilling into aluminium frames.

We also believe in being honest about what a screen can and can’t do. A DIY magnetic kit is brilliant for most windows and brilliant value. For very large sliding doors, heavy daily foot traffic or unusual openings, a professionally fitted retractable system is the better tool. We would rather point you to the right solution than oversell the wrong one — and you’ll see that honesty reflected across our benefits and features pages, where we explain the trade-offs plainly.

Why Singapore homes screen their windows

Singapore’s climate is warm and humid all year, which is wonderful for airflow and, unfortunately, equally wonderful for insects. Mosquitoes breed quickly in our tropical conditions, and the *Aedes* mosquito behind dengue is a daily reality rather than a seasonal scare. A well-fitted mesh screen is a simple, chemical-free physical barrier that lets you ventilate naturally while reducing the bites and the risks. If you want the wider picture, our guide to mosquito control in Singapore and our post on keeping mosquitoes out of HDB windows explain how screens fit into a whole-home approach.

Beyond mosquitoes, screens quietly solve a dozen smaller annoyances: flying cockroaches drifting in from the common corridor, houseflies finding the fruit bowl, lizards leaving little surprises on the wall, and pets leaning a bit too far out of a high window. Cat owners in particular have made our cat-proof window mesh one of our most-requested products, because it keeps a determined cat safely indoors without sealing the family inside.

Two ways to get screened

Do it yourself. Our cut-to-fit DIY kits ship with everything you need and clear instructions — most windows take minutes, with no tools and no drilling. They are designed for the typical HDB and condo casement, sliding and top-hung windows, and they are easy to remove when you move out or clean the glass. If you are new to the idea, our how it works page walks through the four simple steps, and our sizing guide helps you order the right kit the first time.

Done for you. Prefer a professional finish? We work with trusted Singapore installation partners who measure, custom-fit and install premium screens for windows, sliding doors and gates. This is the route to choose for large openings, retractable systems, balcony enclosures and anywhere you want a built-in, made-to-measure look. Request a free quote and we’ll connect you.

A product range, not a one-size-fits-all

No two windows are identical, so our insect screen range spans several tiers — from a straightforward, affordable base option to our most popular all-rounder core kit, a sturdier pro build, a slimline sleek profile and dedicated door screens. The idea is simple: you get exactly the level of mesh, frame and finish your home needs, rather than paying for features you’ll never use.

We also tailor solutions by home type and use case. There are dedicated guides for HDB insect screens, condo insect screens, balcony insect screens and general window insect screens, because the right fit for a rental HDB bedroom is rarely the right fit for a condo balcony facing the pool.

More than screens

Alongside our screens, Insect Out runs a growing library of practical pest guides and a pest-control lead-gen service that connects homeowners with vetted treatment professionals. Screens are a fantastic long-term barrier, but if you already have an active infestation — cockroaches in the kitchen, ants on the march, or signs of termites — a screen alone won’t clear it. In those cases our resources on cockroach control, ant control and general pest control in Singapore point you to the right next step. We see screens and treatment as partners: deal with the problem inside, then screen the openings so it doesn’t keep coming back.
